The Electoral Act 1992 provides for the periodic review of State electoral boundaries to ensure there is an equal number of electors in each electorate.

Suburbs east of the M1 including Alberton, Eagleby, Jacobs Well, Woongoolba, Coomera, parts of Ormeau and Pimpama will be absored into the newly created seat of Coomera.
